  • 1 lb Ground beef or ground turkey for a healthier option
For the Cabbage Base
  • 1 head Green cabbage savoy cabbage can be used for texture
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Quality tomato sauce homemade is preferred
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder or fresh minced garlic for stronger flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano or dried basil as an alternative
For Garnish
  • ¼ cup Fresh parsley or fresh basil if desired

Method
 

Steps to Prepare
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until it's browned and no longer pink, approximately 7-10 minutes.
  3. Stir in the sliced cabbage ribbons and cook until they are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour in the quality tomato sauce, followed by the garlic powder and dried oregano. Stir well to combine.
  5. Lower the heat, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Once ready, ladle the Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls onto plates or into bowls. Garnish with fresh parsley.
