Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar divided
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Prepare the Bundt Cake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the cake bakes evenly and rises properly.
  2. Grease and flour a 10-cup bundt pan. This prevents the cake from sticking and allows for easy removal.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. This helps to incorporate air into the batter, making the cake light and fluffy.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Sifting helps to aerate the dry ingredients and removes any lumps.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, folding gently with a rubber spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to a dense cake.
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan, smoothing the top with the spatula.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The baking time may vary based on your oven.
  11. Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Glaze
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.
  2. Once the cake is completely cool, drizzle the glaze over the top of the bundt cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
